Well, The Meadows team continue to be very busy, Camp Dog Harvey included getting ready for our first season.
First and foremost we would like to apologise to anyone who had hoped to visit us at Easter, or indeed in April. Whilst we have made excellent progress, for saying we only “completed” on 31 January, with the best will in the world, we will not make an Easter opening and we are very disappointed, but we do have our guests in mind!!
For those of you who visited The Meadows touring park when it was owned by Bernard, you will more appreciate the task in hand!!! Now the site has been fully cleared, the important work such as plumbing, and electrics is taking place.
The tiling of the shower block is nearly complete, the steps rebuilt and we are in the process of erecting the “harbour” railings, new lighting, bits and bobs to make showering more pleasurable, and then the laundry fitments can go in.
John, is all set ready to go with the landscaping, but is still tackling our lovely hedge which has not been touched for years. The cutting of the hedge is making the pitching area more spacious, and will ensure our campers no longer get lost in the wilderness just to plug in to the Ehu. The landscaping will include some of the best treasures gathered along the way of the site clearance.
We do not want to spoil the natural environment of The Meadows touring park, as this is what makes our site so special. Whilst doing our work, we also want to be kind to the wildlife here, and we are trying very hard not to disturb them, as this is their home just as much as ours.
Camp Dog Harvey has been very busy supervising the work, and when not supervising, he is playing games with the pheasants, or sitting on the doorstep of his local waiting for it to open ;). (see pic above). Camp Dog did get out and about again last Sunday, and please keep an eye on his walking journal as he is keen to share his latest walk with you.
All three of us are really looking forward to opening in May and to welcoming guests to this fabulous area of Cornwall. Some of our first guests are coming from New Zealand, and the New Zealanders really know how to camp, so we have to impress!!
It is at times like this when lists come in handy, and it is good to see works being ticked off, and the to do list getting shorter. After clearing the site, we do get to see results for the work we are doing and the view out of our windows now we have actually taken residence in gets better and better. Who needs a kitchen, or carpets, when we have such a fantastic view ;).
Please do come and stay with us during our first season at our small, dog friendly touring park in Sunny Southern Cornwall. You will get a very welcome from us all, and you will be able to visit some wonderful places such as Mevagissey, Fowey, Charlestown, Heligan Gardens, Pentewan Sands, and the Eden Project. We are set up for motor homes, caravans, and tents of all shapes and sizes. You might prefer to book in advance and if so you can enquire here or telephone Lynn or John – 01726 844383/07712599745. Alternatively, you can just “turn up” and we will always where possible find you a pitch. We look forward to welcoming you at The Meadows for our very first season.
