Can we camp with you whilst walking the SWCP?

Posted on June 14, 2016 by Comments Off on Can we camp with you whilst walking the SWCP?

Being very keen walkers ourselves, we really enjoy having both walkers and cyclists stay with us as part of their, Hall walk picsusually epic journey!

The Meadows Campsite is a member of the SWCP Association, and we also give discounted pitch fees, and a very warm welcome.

We are good for an exit from the SWCP at either Pentewan, or Mevagissey as we are right on the Pentewan Valley Trail which links up to the Coast Path.  We are just a mile from Pentewan Village with a lovely flat walk up the river to finish off your day. The walk from Mevagissey is a little longer, and does involve a hill, but you will skirt by the edge of Heligan Gardens, so a nice off the road walk.

How far are you from the SWCP?

The Meadows (adult only campsite) is situate on the Pentewan Valley Trail. The Trail links up to the SWCP both in the Village of Pentewan, and also in Mevagissey as the trail goes in both directions. The trail is off the road, and so makes a lovely start/ finish, to a day of walking the Coast Path.

At the present time we don’t have this facility.  However, we do have a freezer and we freeze ice packs.  There are usually spares available to borrow.

Can I plug my hair straighteners in if I “proper camp” ?(asked by as many males as females!)

Posted on March 22, 2016 by Comments Off on Can I plug my hair straighteners in if I “proper camp” ?(asked by as many males as females!)

Whilst we do not wish to appear mean, we do not have any open plug sockets on the campsite for this facility.  There is a salon style hairdryer in the shower block which is free to use.

We see all sorts of gadgets that our campers bring now, including power packs, and chargeable straighteners and so please think about this in advance.

Firepits – are hired out on a first come first served basis unless booked and paid for in advance. Refunds are not given, so it can be best to book when you are here and have a better idea of the weather, but decide early as we have been known to run out. We have just ordered more as they seem to get more and more popular!

Cost £10 for the first night including a sack of wood, and £8 for any subsequent night (cleaned out and a sack of wood each night), provided booked before taken away.

Last orders for fire pits and wood are 6pm on the day required.

Getting around on public transport

Posted on May 4, 2015 by Comments Off on Getting around on public transport

We are on a very good local bus route, linking up to a main bus and train station at St Austell.  The local bus ferrytravels to Pentewan Village, Mevagissey, Gorran Haven, Heligan Gardens, St Austell, Fowey, Par and Charlestown.

There are also ferry crossings between Mevagissey and Fowey, and Fowey and Boddinick.  Both the ferries and bus are “dog friendly”.
